BWN 2023 Scholarship Application

Thank you for your interest in a BWN Scholarship.

In 2000, the Business Women's Network of Howard County established the Life Long Learner Scholarship Program to support Howard County women in reaching the next step in their careers or businesses. On July 1, 2013, the Business Women's Network of Howard County Scholarship Foundation, Inc. was formed to continue to grow the amount of funding available for this important Scholarship Program. Since 2000, the BWN Scholarship Foundation has awarded over $80.000 in Scholarships. A large portion of the scholarship funds come from generous donations by local organizations and individuals. The Foundation raises additional amounts at BWN Howard County's special fundraising events and our December holiday basket raffle.

On Wednesday, June 21, 2023, the Business Women's Network of Howard County Scholarship Foundation, Inc. plans to award six (8) scholarships of $1,500 each. 

To apply for this scholarship, you must be:

• A woman, at least 21 years old, with a high school diploma, GED® credential, or other high school equivalency credential. (The Applicant does not need to have graduated from a Howard County High School).

• Have a tie with Howard County either as a resident, a member of BWN, an employee or business owner who works in the County, or an enrolled student in Howard County.

• Already enrolled or plans to enroll within one year in a program described below, either full-time or part-time.

You should also know that the program is not limited to degree programs. Other options include technical training courses, certificate programs, or any post-secondary training or education. 

• The scholarship funds will be paid directly to the educational institution.

To be considered, you must complete all required questions on this application. This application will ask you two essay questions and provide two references. We strongly suggest that you write your answers to the essay questions in a word processing program, proofread your essays, then copy and insert them into the application. Note that you have a 250 word limit for each essay question.

Also, we suggest that you contact your two references right away and ask their permission to be listed. Let them know that they will receive an email from us with a link to complete their reference and that they will need to complete it by May 6, 2023. Double check that you have provided the correct contact information for your references. 

To be considered, you must submit this application by Wednesday, April 19th, 2023.
