Supporting Our Community

BWN not only supports Howard County women in business; we are also active supporters of the community at large. Each December at our luncheon meeting, BWN coordinates donation drives for two member non-profit organizations. Currently, we support both our spotlight non-profit of the year - the Red Devils and Success in Style. In previous years, we have supported the Cancer Support Foundation and the Domestic Violence Center.

Our spotlight non-profit, The Red Devils, funds services to improve quality of life for breast cancer patients and their families. The emotional and physical impact of this disease may make some of the things we take for granted almost impossible:

House cleaning
Getting to doctor appointments
Preparing family meals
Fun

Success In Style is a non-profit organization promoting dignity and self-sufficiency among disadvantaged women by providing them with business attire and practical fashion advice. They seek to enhance the appearance of individual women to increase their confidence and self esteem so that they may reflect the professionalism necessary to gain employment and maintain a career.

Also, since 2000, BWN has awarded our Life Long Learning scholarships to deserving women within the county. The recipient uses these funds to advance her educational opportunities.
